A wedge brake arrangement for drum brakes on heavy road vehicles includes a brake cylinder push rod (29), plungers (26) axially movable perpendicularly to the push rod, and force transmitting rollers (32) between parallel wedge surfaces at the end of the push rod and on the respective plunger. In order to obtain full control over the reaction forces from the plungers (26) at brake operation the push rod (29) is guided by the housing (25) of the arrangement in the plane of the plungers by means of guide rollers (35) between plane surfaces at the end of the push rod (29) and in the housing (25), respectively, the surfaces being parallel with each other and with the axis of the push rod.

The invention relates to mechanical engineering, in particular to wedge braking devices for heavy road transport vehicles.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the reliability of operation by providing two-way control of reactive forces from the plungers and increasing the uniformity of the distribution of braking forces between the pads.
Figure 1 shows a drum brake, partial view; figure 2 - diagram of the wedge brake device; on fig.Z -, wedge brake device on an enlarged scale, a general view; in Fig. 4. - the same cross section.
Brake pads 1, equipped with friction linings 2, are made movable to interact with the brake rod 3, rotate with salt (not shown) of the vehicle under the influence of the wedge brake device 4. There is a spring 5 for reverse movement of the pads.
The wedge brake device 4 contains a brake cylinder 6 operating under the influence of a medium, and the stem coming out of it is designed in the form of a wedge 7. A return helical compression spring 8 interacts with the stem. The force-transmitting rollers 9 are placed between the wedge 7 and the plungers 10, which are axially displaceable in the direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the wedge

In addition, two surfaces 13 and 14 are parallel to the axis of the rod 12 on the wedge 7, and corresponding two parallel guide surfaces 15 and 16 are made on the housing 11. Between the surfaces 13 and 15, 14 and 16 there are placed guide rollers 17 and 18. The rollers 17 and 18, like the rollers 9, must be mounted in a guide element, for example a holder (for simplicity, not shown in Fig. 2).
A practical variant of the wedge device is shown in FIG. 3 and 4 (the left half of the device is shown in FIG. 3, since the right half is similar).
In the housing 19, the plungers 20 are axially displaced. At the end extending from the housing 19, the plunger 20 is provided with an element 21 for interacting with the corresponding. stvuyu11 brake shoe (Fig. 1). 5 Membrane 22 between housing 19 and

Claim
1. A wedge braking device, in particular for heavy road vehicles, comprising a brake cylinder rod with a two-sided wedge mounted axially movable in the housing, and axially displaced in the housing mounted perpendicular to the plunger rod with wedge surfaces facing the rod, parallel to its wedge surfaces, force-transmitting rollers placed between parallel wedge surfaces of the rod and plungers with the possibility of diluting the plungers one the other, and a guide slot installed with the possibility of guiding the rod in the plane of movement of the plungers between the flat surfaces made in the housing and & at the rod end parallel to one another and the shaft axis, characterized in that, in order to increase the reliability of operation by ensuring two-sided control reactive forces from the plungers and increase the uniformity of the distribution of braking forces between the pads, it is equipped with 15 but an additional guiding po. a face mounted between additional flat surfaces made on the stem and in the housing located respectively on the opposite side from the first flat surfaces relative to the axis of the stem, and the guide rollers are mounted on the side of one of the ends of the force-transmitting rollers.
